Course Description:
The aim of this activity is to enhance the tobacco cessation education of respiratory therapists in Saudi Arabia.
We surveyed 202 Respiratory therapists in Saudi Arabia and found that the majority had low level of knowledge in and attitudes towards tobacco cessation and counseling skills. Our course was designed to address those gaps by aiming to increase the level of knowledge, provide the necessary skills, and increase positive feelings towards smoking cessation counseling. Therefore, this course will help respiratory therapists address one of the most important factors attributed to respiratory conditions and improve their patients' level of satisfaction.

Course Objectives:
- Describe the epidemiology of tobacco products and tobacco use as well as their associated harmful compounds.

- Select appropriate nicotine, non-nicotine, or combined pharmacologic agents based on patient-specific factors
- Discuss how to implement appropriate models to assist tobacco users with quitting, including the 5 A’s model and AAR model.
